Residency Program Graduation and Resident Awards

Residency Program Graduation and Resident Award Recipients 

The Department congratulates the 79 residents who graduated from our program on Friday, June 11. 63 residents from the two year residency program and 16 from our 3 year programs were honored at the Great Hall that evening. Awards were given out to the following individuals: thrd

Outstanding Resident Taryn Kentner who did her Family Medicine block at Mt. Brydges with Jennifer Parr 

CFPC Family Medicine Resident Leadership Award Clarissa Holding, who did her Family Medicine block with Eric Wong in London and her Family Medicine Rural placement in Petrolia with Enoch Daniel and John Butler 

Chief Residents Recognition Award Clarissa Holding and Taryn Kentner 

Lilija & Janus Strauts Award Stephen Burgess who did his Family Medicine block with Laura Lyons in London and his rural placement with Vikram Dalal in Mt. Brydges. This award was established to address the need for rural family physicians in Middlesex, Elgin or Oxford counties 

CFPC Family Medicine Research Award and the Family Medicine Award for Resident Scholarship – Both awards to Emily Kelly who did her Family Medicine block with Larry Schmidt and her rural placement with Tanya Thornton in St. Marys 

Western Ontario Family Medicine Scholarship Nelson Chan who did Family Medicine with Larry Schmidt in London. This award recognizes a resident in his/her final year and is based on clinical excellence 

The following awards were presented based on resident projects. 

Best Overall Project Patricia Lee, who did Family Medicine with Helena Hamdan in Windsor. Project title "An Update on Child Automobile Restraint Systems for General Practitioners” 

Best Presentation Deborah Norrie and Ceara McNeil, both did Family Medicine with Jennifer Parr in Mt. Brydges. Deborah’s project "A Review of Breast Cancer Screening in Women with Cosmetic Breast Augmentation”; Ceara’s project "Accidental Digital Epinephrine Injection: To Treat or Not to Treat?” 

Best Poster Monique Renaud and Patricia Lee. Monique did her Family Medicine with Ted Osmun in Mt. Brydges. Her project "Plan B Emergency Contraception: Knowledge, Experiences and Attitudes among Rural Women at an Academic Family Practice in SW Ontario”. Patricia’s info noted under Best Overall Project 

Best Research Project Clarissa Holding for her project "Community Recruiters and Medical Students: What do the Students Want?”
