Part-time/Job Sharing Policy

By special request to the Postgraduate Director, this program is available under the auspices of the following guidelines:
  1. Part-time/job-shared residency positions will only be considered where problems of child care, family care, or illness would not permit the usual family medicine residency.

  2. The part-time/job-shared residency must be acceptable to the Postgraduate Director, the university, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

  3. The time span of the program should not normally exceed four years (twice the normal residency time length).

  4. The program will include all blocks that are considered integral parts of the existing full-time residency requirements, including enrichments and selectives.

  5. The time commitment to each "block" of educational experience should be no less than 50% of the full-time equivalent.

  6. The Postgraduate Director will ensure that time slots will be available for the full period of the residency prior to the position being offered.

  7. A complete outline of the resident's entire training program will be made available to all parties (U.W.O., Ministry of Health re funding, The College of Family Physicians of Canada, The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and the individual) for approval prior to the position being offered to the applicant to ensure that the training is equivalent to a full-time program.
