Project Funding
Within the Department of Family Medicine, project funding is available through the DEPARTMENT RESEARCH TRUST FUND. Funding requests are only reviewed
TWICE A YEAR. If you would like to request funding please review the
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES and complete the following
FORM. The form must be submitted by
February 1st or
October 1st to
Maureen Kennedy, Coordinator of the Department Research Committee. Please note that the
process from submission to approval may take up to four months.

Continuing Professional Development Unit
The Continuing Professional Development ( CPD) Unit is actively involved in a variety of educational endeavors, including needs assessment ,curriculum development for CPD events,evaluation of CPD programming, innovative strategies and faculty development. There are many potential opportunities through the CPD unit for residents to engage in scholarly education work either in the from of a concentrated research elective or a longitudinal project to be completed over a more extended period of time.

UWO Libraries has worked hard to compile a number of resources thare are specific to Family Medicine research and practice. For Off Campus Access, you will need your UWO ID and Password to log in and gain full access to the resources.

Western Libraries' web page for Family Medicine Includes links to major medical databases (PubMed, etc...), electronic textbooks (including McWhinney's Textbook of Family Medicine), Clinical Tools for use at the point-of-care (like DynaMed & ACP PIER) & Practice Guidlines.
RefWorks is a citation manager program where you can create folders that organize the citations and references retrieved by your literature searches. RefWorks will also create a bibliography in any recognized citation format (APA, Chicago, etc...) and allow you to share references with your colleagues.

Canadian Library of Family Medicine
The library service of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, which is based at UWO in the Taylor Library, and which serves all CFPC members across Canada.
