London Program Curriculum

Features of our London Program
  • Training in urban and suburban community practices
  • Teaching faculty who:
    • have a wide variety of special interests in palliative care, primary care procedures, domestic violence, intrapartum obstetrics, sexual assault, forensic medicine, information technology
    • are dedicated and experienced teachers
  • Wednesday mornings are dedicated to teaching sessions organized by faculty and residents during core family medicine blocks
  • Experience interdisciplinary care while working with nurse practitioners, social workers and public health nurses
  • A shared mental health program led by a psychiatrist, and a mental health nurse practitioner at most training sites. The psychiatrist and his nurse visits on a weekly basis to see consultations. On a bi-weekly or monthly basis, team meetings are held where difficult cases are discussed and corridor consultations take place. Residents have the opportunity to see patients together with the nurse practitioner or psychiatrist to gain additional skills in mental health care
The London program has an integrated 2-year curriculum. Some of the rotations take place in regional centres. There are electronic medical resources for residents, including computer and internet access, and standard medical resources in each core Family Medicine training site.
