Electives
If you have been contacted by a year 1 or 2 student interested in completing an observership with you, please contact the Program Coordinator for approval.
You may receive a request for the Fall or Spring time period from the Program Coordinator with a list of those students interested in completing an observerships. Since students need to complete these outside of curriculum time, their availability will vary (ie. Approximately 2 half days a week).
Faculty are compensated for this teaching.
Clinical Methods
Year 1: A request to participate in Clinical Methods - Patient Centred Interviewing Intro and Advanced Year 1, will be sent to all faculty in London and surrounding area in August of each year. This teaching is split between Fall and Spring time periods, 1 morning a week for 8 weeks.
Year 2: A request to participate in Clinical Methods -Family Medicine Skills Year 2, will be sent to all faculty in London and surrounding area near the end of November. This teaching takes place February to May. Students will then be matched to faculty based on their schedule and expected to contact the faculty directly to set up dates and times to complete the required 6 hours of teaching. Faculty need to be commutable to London.
OSCE
Undergrad is looking for faculty members or residents who would like to participate in the OSCE for year 3 and 4 students, twice a year (once in Fall and Spring). It takes place at St. Joes Hospital, on a weeknight, from approximately 5:30-9:00pm. The Program Coordinator will send email notices to all faculty leading up to this event. No formal training is required, participants will be briefed before the event takes place. Faculty are compensated for this teaching.

Faculty have the opportunity to sign up for a workshop/lecture for this event. Each time slot is for 1.5 hours. Faculty will receive email request from FMIG to participate in the Fall.
Spectrum Week

Organized by the Undergraduate Academic Director, this is a new week
in the curriculum that is run entirely by family physicians and provides student with the family medicine perspective on some very common symptom based complaints. This week is highly rated by the students. Sample topics covered by faculty in past – Community Health, OB Care in Family Medicine, Approach to Perinatal Loss, Gender and Health, Urinary Tract Infections, Management of Hypertension, Fever, Forensic Medicine.If you are interested in participating, please email Academic Director at
